A twenty-five minute drive puts you in the medieval hill towns of Amelia or Orvieto (famous for its white wine and home to the Umbrian Winter Jazz Festival). An hour's train ride and you will be in the heart of Rome; two hours on the train will deliver you to Florence. Or take a leisurely drive through classic Tuscan wine country and be in Montepulciano in an hour and half. Nearby there is a lake, horse-riding, a spa, local wineries, and a variety of medieval hill towns rich with museums and churches to explore.
If you are lucky, you'll be at Casa Sirena in time for one of the local "sagras," food festivals that celebrate local fare, including porcini mushrooms, boar, truffles, pasta, and wine.
